Hamiltonian systems are an important class of dynamical systems in mathematics, physics, and biology. In this talk, we will explain the impact and ramifications of an underlying S^1-symmetry on the meaning and applications of Hamiltonian systems in geometry and analysis. Our examples reach from integrable ODE problems to bubbling questions of PDEs.
