After a brief general introduction to causal fermion systems and causal variational principles, the concept of linearized fields is introduced. Formulating the Cauchy problem locally in so-called lens-shaped regions, I will explain how energy methods can be used to prove existence and uniqueness of solutions. The family of all lens-shaped regions give rise to causal structures in space-time. I will outline how to construct global solutions and Green's operators. This is joint work with Claudio Dappiaggi (Pavia) and Johannes Kleiner (Hannover).
