In this talk I will show many photos and describe the most unusual life of Alexander Grothendieck, one of the most important mathematicians of the 20th century.

I will give a survey of Grothendieck's career, covering his main mathematical contributions, his significant activity in the area of ecological activism and finally, his remarkable unpublished writings.
