Exploring quantum fields on rotating black holes
Christiane Klein (York University, UK)
Giuseppe Della Sala (American University of Beirut)
The field of Several Complex Variables studies the properties complex manifolds of dimension at least 2, and the corresponding holomorphic maps. In the subfield of CR Geometry, the main objects of interest are real submanifolds of complex spaces; in this category, the notion of CR functions is the correct extension of the notion of holomorphicity. The space of CR functions, however, can behave very differently from the space of holomorphic functions: most notably, CR functions do not necessarily have convergent power series. In the talk we will briefly overview some of the basic concepts of SCV, and we will present some recent results related to the algebra of CR functions and some of its natural generalizations.
This talk is part of the colloquium "Mathematics in Lebanon and beyond," of the partnership between the University of Potsdam and two universities in Beirut, the Lebanese University (UL) and the American University of Beirut (AUB). The colloquium will serve as a meeting place for scientific exchange, bringing together mathematicians and physicists from the Lebanese diaspora, friends of Lebanon from around the world, and researchers based in Lebanon.
