Title: Network models and sparse graphon estimation.
Abstract: Graphon models offer a versatile framework for analyzing inhomogeneous random graphs, including popular network models such as stochastic block models and latent position models.
In the first part of the colloquium, we will familiarize the audience with graphon theory, originally introduced by Lovász et al.
In the second part,we will present recent advancements in graphon estimation, emphasizing the derivation of optimal convergence rates, particularly for sparse networks. We will also explore extensions of these results and discuss their significance for a wide range of applications in network analysis.
